Michigan Farm to School: Calumet Center and Sharkar Farms

October 6, 2016 - Author: Abby Harper, <matts@msu.edu>

The Calumet Center, a juvenile center in Highland Park, Michigan, is partnering with Sharkar Farms through Hoophouses for Health. This program supports farmers to expand their growing capacity through season extension while simultaneously helping them build farm to school partnerships to get more good, local food into K-12 school and early childhood program meals. This video highlights their unique partnership and success in getting more local foods to Michigan children.

This innovative program is coordinated by a collaboration between the MSU Center for Regional Food Systems, Michigan Farmers Market Association, and the MSU Department of Horticulture
