Case Study: Lessons from the University of Vermont Food Hub Management Program

This case study presents lessons learned from Michigan food hub managers who participated in the University of Vermont Food Hub Management Certificate Program and reflections on the role that the Michigan Food Hub Network plays in extending and enhancing the training.

Key findings from the case study are:

  • UVM participants report increased financial skills and food hub literacy.
  • UVM participants report that being a part of a Michigan cohort for the program contributed positively to experience during and afterward.
  • Interviews suggest a net positive effect for Michigan food hub managers that participated in the program.
  • Interviews suggest that the presence of a statewide network for food hubs enhanced the learning potential of the program during and after the course.
