Michigan Food Hub and Incubator Kitchen Joint Network Meeting & Tours
Date: July 19, 2017
— 9:00am - 3:00pm
Location: Sacred Heart Parish, 1000 Eliot St., Detroit, MI 48207
Eastern Market, Detroit
For the first time the Michigan Food Hub Network and Incubator Kitchen Network will be joining forces to offer this jointly planned event at Sacred Heart Parish, located adjacent to Eastern Market in Detroit. The meeting agenda includes statewide network updates, a presentation from the Michigan Food Safety Network, and an opportunity to shape the future of both networks through facilitated dialogue. We hope you will add your voice to this important discussion on local food aggregation, distribution, and processing!
The meeting will be followed by two optional food processing tours: The first stop is FEAST, a new co-owned food processing and co-packing facility (and Michigan Good Food Fund loan recipient) in Inkster, MI. FEAST will house 3 food companies and serve many other food entrepreneurs across greater Detroit. Next stop is Proud Mitten Kitchen in Plymouth, MI. Proud Mitten is a successful food incubator (and IK Network member) working to reduce risk and support growth and success of food start-ups.
The meeting and tours are free and lunch is provided, but registration is required for this event! Bus transportation will be available from East Lansing to Detroit, with return stops at both tour sites. A block of 10 rooms is available on July 18th at The Inn on Ferry Street for those requiring overnight accommodations. To receive the discounted rate, ask for "MSU Center for Regional Food Systems" block. Rooms will only be held until June 27th, so don’t wait to book!
